We need your voice! Help NOMA have a say in future development

Dear Friends of NOMA,

As many of you know, an abundance of bills have come out of Sacramento that override local zoning and allows multi-unit apartments to be built in what are currently single-family neighborhoods like ours.

Some good news is that one of those bills, SB 79, gives cities some leeway to determine where state mandated housing will be located, as opposed to putting it wherever developers want.

The Planning Commission will be studying whether Santa Monica should adopt its own plan, or not, choosing instead to allow developers to make those planning decisions for us.

Here’s an article by NOMA’s co-chair Bruce Leddy about this issue and the stakes for Santa Monica.

We urge you to read it and write our Planning Commission members (planningcomment@santamonica.gov) asking that they adopt the alternative plan option, giving Santa Monicans a voice in our destiny… and density.

Thank you.
