Tonight at 7pm: Assemblymember Zbur on AB 1740, plus the fate of our San Vicente coral trees
Dear Neighbors,
This is your reminder that NOMA's monthly meeting is tonight, Thursday, August 6, at 7:00 PM on Zoom.
We have a very timely agenda. Leading off, we welcome back our state assemblymember, Rick Zbur, who will update us on AB 1740 and a potential trailer bill, and will take your questions. If you care about how state housing law is landing in our neighborhood, this is a chance to hear from the bill author himself.
From there, we turn to a subject very close to home: the iconic coral trees along San Vicente. Their visible decline and removal have worried many of us, and the city has some answers. Madeleine Rauhe and Matthew Wells from the City of Santa Monica will present the results of the recent assessment and take your questions, joined by members of the Urban Forest Commission. Of the corridor's original 166 trees, dozens are already gone and many that remain are struggling. Come hear what caused it, what the city is doing right now, and what the future of that beloved streetscape could look like.
Bring your questions for both parts of the meeting. This is exactly the kind of night where showing up makes a difference.
