Tree fallen over in street

Dear NOMA Neighbors,

We have all witnessed the sad lack of care and decline of our San Vicente coral trees, many of which have recently been cut down.

The City's Urban Forest Commission will hold a special meeting dedicated entirely to the future of the coral trees on the San Vicente Boulevard median.

Date: Wednesday, October 14, 2026
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: Santa Monica Main Library, 601 Santa Monica Blvd, Multipurpose Meeting Room

This is our chance to be heard!

Do we want the corals that were removed to be replaced with corals or with a different species? How important is it to you that the City commit to properly watering, pruning and maintaining our San Vicente median trees going forward?

Our voices can make a difference, so please:

A. Attend the meeting.
Your very presence will speak volumes about our concerns.

B. Speak at the meeting.
Submit a speaker request slip ("chit slip") before the meeting is called. Speakers have one minute. You may request an additional minute, which the Commission may allow depending on the number of speakers.

C. Submit a written comment by October 13th (preferably before.)
Email public.landscape@santamonica.gov. Keep your comment short enough to be read aloud in one minute as it may be read into the public record. Submitting a written comment therefore replaces your opportunity to speak at the meeting.

This is our neighborhood. Together we can make a difference.
